Moved to WordPress…

For those of you that visit the site, you can tell that it looks completely different. This is because I have switched back to WordPress. With the new version that came out (3.0), I just had to do it. It is just so much cleaner than Drupal, and Drupal had way too many things that I did not need.

I am happy to be back. For now, I am going to download a theme and use that. I am sure that I will make some changes, but it will take me some time. I am building a site for someone else.

Surrogates

A few nights ago Delissa rented Surrogates, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. We usually watch comedies, but every now and then we throw in a good action flick. We were not really sure that this was going to be a good one, but we were crossing our fingers. It turned out that it was actually worth watching. Who would have thought that Bruce Willis still had it? The guy is getting up there in age, but he is still one of the best action stars out there. In fact, he is even pretty good at comedy.

The movie is set in the future, and it is set in a world where everyone is afraid to go outside. They use robots to move around and conduct their daily lives. Everyone has these things. They are machines that you can control by laying a chair, and it allows people to experience live without actually experiencing the danger that goes with it. The people are actually scared to see what the world holds for them. It is an interesting concept, and I think that we may not be that far away from it happening. Who knows what the future will hold?

The main character is an FBI agent, and he conducts all of his investagations from the privacy of his own home. It is hard to believe, but he travels everywhere by the power of this machine. They begin investigating the killing of two cyborgs. The unusual thing about this is that it actually killed the operators as well. This is not supposed to happen. In fact, it can’t happen according to the creator.

The find out the creator’s son was killed in one of the cyborgs, and they track down the killer. The killer runs to the last place where only humans are allowed. It is a refugee camp inside the middle of large cities. They kill all cyborgs on sight. From here the movie, the movie takes too many twists and turns to discuss in a short review. I am sure that you can find some other sites that will give you a complete play by play of the movie, but that has never been my style. In the end, the FBI agent is able to save the entire population by killing all of the cyborgs. He make the people get out of their control chairs and experience life. They were relying so heavily on them that they had forgotten what it was like to feel.

I would definitely recommend this movie. In fact, I want to watch it again to make sure that I really understand all of the hidden meanings that were in the movie. It really makes you think abou where technology can take us and the damage that it might cause. If you think about, technology might be the best and worst thing that has ever happened to us. How many new social disorders exists now because of the internet? It is just something to think about.
